Coach Nikii Walker said: “Everybody at the club is really proud of the Allstars team for the fantastic achievement of coming second overall in the International Cup.
“I would also like to say a big well done to all the coaching staff, welfare officers and judges who helped us to earn second place.
“We are now planning the trip to the training camp in Italy for later in the year.
“We went to the same resort last summer as reward for the second-place finish in 2010 and we all had a great time, training in the mornings and evenings, and having a great time by the pool in between.”
Nikii added: “There is a great family atmosphere at our club and this shows when we go on the trips abroad to either compete or train, with the families of some gymnasts also going along.”
The Academy already have their sights set on more success this year.
“Our next major Teamgym event is to be held on Saturday March 3 at the Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh.
“We will have five teams in competition there, including three in the national level events.
“We have a mixed primary schools age team entering the national category for the first time, and they are busy training at the moment to get off to a superb start.”
