SCALBY School’s year nine netball team tasted success in the Scarborough & District Knockout Competition.
The team, who haven’t been beaten by another school in the area since they formed in year seven, secured their win after they overcame Ryedale 16-8 in the final.
Captained by Georgia Price, the side have performed superbly since they started playing as a team in their first year at the school, and coach Claire Thorpe is delighted with their success.
She said: “The girls are great and haven’t been beaten in the area since they came to us in year seven.
“They played superbly throughout the tournament and thoroughly deserve to win shield.
“I’d also like to say a big thank-you to all the parents who have come to the games and supported the team really well.
“It’s a big help and the girls and me appreciate it.”
