The organisers of the Oliver’s Mount motorbiking calendar, the Auto 66 Club, have released a special announcement following the tragic death of a rider in Scarborough at the weekend.

Steve Hix, 38, from Holbeach in Lincolnshire, passed away after coming off his bike on Sunday evening.

The announcement read: “Steve Hix, a 38-year-old racer from Holbeach, has died from injuries sustained in an accident on Oliver’s Mount, Scarborough, on July 22.

“A cheerful, larger than life and popular character, he will be sadly missed.

“The Auto 66 Club extends its sincere condolences to family, relatives and friends of Mr Hix at this very sad time.

“The organisers are carrying out a full investigation into the circumstances of the accident.”
