Boxing is a sport on the up after a hugely successful medal haul at the London 2012 Games, and the benefits are far reaching.
ScarboroughAmateur Boxing Club is thriving at the moment, so we visited their bustling gym just off Seamer Road to see what’s going on under the watchful eye of coach John Brownlie.
We were taken through the basics by Brownlie before watching some of the club’s prospects sparring.
Brownlie said: “Interest in boxing has soared after the success of the Olympics last year.
“We’ve had loads more people coming down to the club to see what it’s all about, and that’s great.
“Boxing is a great sport that promotes discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
“It’s a great way for kids to get active and healthy and also learn some discipline.”
