College press officer Nick Maloney said: “It is top quality material and has maintained our traditional school colours but with a modern design. The Friends of Scarborough College generosity has helped us purchase these two great kits.”

Maloney added: “The boys’ hockey season has started well and the boys have recorded impressive victories over Pocklington and Worksop.

“The one loss came against a very strong QEGS side. We have three boys from the team playing in the North of England representative side, the Pennine Pumas.

“Many of the Scarborough College team also play for local clubs including Driffield and Old Malton.

“We have a full season of fixtures with 20 games of hockey including a weekend tour to Edinburgh for two matches. This has the potential to be the best season for some years.”

The netball team have recovered from an early season loss to Pocklington to secure a win over Ampleforth.

Maloney said: “The team are playing well and looking forward to an exciting season.

“As well as playing against schools from all over Yorkshire, the majority of the team play in the McCain Scarborough League where the girls take on local ladies teams.”
