Scupham survived the rain to finish in a highly creditable fifth place.

Cavan Walker rode in both the third category and the Elite/1/2/3 race.

The third category was dominated by the under-16 riders, with third-placed Walker joining winner Jack Ford and Jim Brown to form an all-Youth podium.

Walker went straight back on track to race against some of the area’s top Elite riders, surviving in the main group until the sprint finish.

The final round of YH Training Scarborough Road Club Twilight series was held at York Sport in what turned into a cold and wet night for the riders.

In the fourth category race, Ben Sixsmith (Scarborough Paragon) showed at the front early in the race but dropped off the pace as the conditions began to deteriorate.

Steve Norris (YHTSRC) struggled with form after crashing out in the previous round and was forced to retire early.

Jamie Ward and Fred Smith (both YHTSRC) finished in the main group, with Ward taking a creditable eighth place.

There was more success for YHTSRC in the 2/3/4 race, with Bob Hewitt making it into the break and helping it stay away.

Hewitt finished second behind junior Otley rider Tom Cullen, while Gary Whitton continued his return from long term injury to take eighth place.
