Emma Clapton, of Scarborough Athletic Club, competed very successfully at the Childline Triathlon which was held at Queen Ethelburgas College York.

In the Junior Tri 3 series, Emma finished just 15 seconds down on the National Champion Kate Waugh, and subsequently finished the series as the Yorkshire and Humberside Junior Champion.

She will now go on to represent Yorkshire and Humberside at the National Championships in September.

Emma’s club-mate Pete Johnson competed in the annual Ecup 10 mile race, and was 81st overall of 645 finishers in 67 minutes 15.

His time which was two minutes outside his best for the year was still fast enough for him to take the first Over-60 prize.

Former Scarborough AC runner Louise Brown, who now resides in Barcelona, took part in the Harrogate Town Centre 10 kilometre road race while back in North Yorkshire on holiday.

Louise finished 29th overall and was the third woman finisher in 38 minutes two seconds.

Richard Buckle, of Scarborough AC, competed in the annual Bishop Wilton half marathon, which is part of the annual village show which had to be cancelled this year due to flooding.

Richard finished up in 16th of 213 finishers in a personal best time of 91 minutes 8 seconds which was the second fastest by a Scarborough AC athlete this year so far.
