Teenager Erin Hope, of Kingfishers Swimming Club, earned a top award at the British Long Distance Swimming Association’s Coniston water swim.

Fourteen-year-old Erin Hope entered her first 5.25 mile competition at Coniston Water and came home in first place in 2 hours 44 minutes.

This was just two weeks after being part of the successful Kingfisher Channel Relay Team.

The conditions were perfect with the water calm and the sun shining.

Erin not only took first place in the junior girls event she was also awarded the Trevor Morgan Trophy for effort, determination and attitude, the presentation of which was made more poignant as Trevor Morgan’s son, Scarborough swimmer David Morgan, who had also crewed for the teenager on the day.
