Scarborough’s first-ever roller derby team are looking for new recruits.

The Scarborough Slammers formed in January and are holding tryout sessions every Wednesday until June 24 at Pindar Leisure Centre.

The sessions run from 8pm until 10pm and the first session is free, and skaters over the age of 18, male or female, are invited to go along.

Roller derby is a fast-paced contact sport played on quad roller skates, and to score points your jammer must pass the other team’s blockers and pivot (their defence, made up of four people).
