Hull's Olympic golden boy Luke Campbell finished preparing for his demolition job on Derry Mathews last week by sparring Scarborough's welterweight prospect George Rhodes.

Campbell, who destroyed Mathews with a sickening body shot in the fourth round of their fight at The Echo Arena in Liverpool, urged Rhodes to keep grafting in the pro ranks.

"I finished my preparation with a couple of sparring sessions the week before the fight and it was good to get in there with George," the Olympic gold medalist told The Scarborough News.

"I was just out to get my eye in and have a move around after coming back from Miami and the boys who came through to Hull were good for that and they had a few different styles.

"He's got to keep working hard and he'll do well."
