SOUTH Cliff Golf Club member Michael Cockill has achieved something most golfers can only dream of.

Cockill, who owns Cockill’s Lighting on Ramshill Road, and has played golf for 50 years - 30 of them at South Cliff GC - has scored three hole-in-ones on the 17th hole since the end of January.

His first ace came in the Captain’s Drive-in on January 31, the second was in the Tradesman’s Bowl on July 24 and the third, also off the competition tees, was in a friendly match on August 15.

Michael, whose wife Susan is set to become next year’s Lady Vice Captain at the Deepdale Avenue club, was astounded by his hat-trick of hole-in-ones.

“I’ve never ever looked like holing out before and for it to happen to me three times in a little over six months is hard to believe.”
