James Kraft competed in the Val di Fassa Tour event which was held in the Dolomites region of Italy.

The event had five stages held over six days with one rest day after the third stage.

The stages were held on walking trails with flat sections, climbs and steep downhill segments.

The last stage was a 7.5-kilometre uphill only race in the ski resort town of Campitello, which ended at the top of the Ski lift at Col Rodella for a total of 1,070m altitude gain.

The winner of the race Alex Baldacini was third in the European Mountain running championships last year.

Kraft finished eighth overall after the five stages and was third in the 18-35 category, including a fourth place finish in the second stage.

Four club juniors competed in a joint team consisting of athletes from Harrogate Harriers and Wetherby Runners club, at the third round of the Youth Development League Upper Age Group at the new athletics stadium on the York University Campus.

Despite the contribution by Scarborough athletes this season, the team could only finish last and face relegation to Division Two next season.

The most prolific and successful of the Scarborough quartet was Chloe Warren, who competed in four A women’s under-20 field events.

She won the shot, was fourth in the discus and javelin and fifth in the hammer.

Hannah Bayes came close to a win with runner-up places in both the women’s under-17 1500m chase and the 3,000m.

Sam Cullen competed successfully in two under-20 men’s B events when winning the 1500m chase and finishing third in 1500m.

He also ran the anchor leg of the 4 x 400m relay and helped the team to valuable third place points.

Fay Debenham made her league debut in the under-17 women’s A 800m and ran a personal best time when finishing fourth.
