Nomads 6 Pindar A 4
An unbeaten performance from Nomads’ John Loftus inspired his team to a four-point win.
Loftus at last showed some consistency in all his rubbers to take them in straight sets.
Matthew Flinton won twice for the victors but was pushed all the way against Guy Hutchinson before taking the rubber 11-6, 3-11, 5-11, 11-7, 12-10. Richard Lloyd added the all-important single for the win.
Pindar’s reply came from a Guy Whiting brace, a single from Hutchinson and a vital doubles success that both players were involved in.
Corinthians 6 Rolo 4
Rolo’s Martin Lowe showed no mercy to his Corinthians opponents.
The difference in class was very evident as he demonstrated some devastating returns and attacking shots on both forehand and backhand in all of his winning singles.
He then partnered Ben Rowe to a doubles win that secured his team two points. Corinthians win was sealed by two wins each for Derek Elliott, Pete Lee and Pete Kirk over Rolo’s promising youngsters.
Both Rowe and Ethan Lowe demonstrated their potential by giving all the Corinthians players a good game.
