Lucy Gilsenan found winning form when she represented Scalby School in the National Schools Equestrian Association, County championship Showjumping competition, at Bishop Burton College.

The event was held in the impressive indoor arena, which was recently refurbished at a cost of £3 million.

The event was well supported, with competitors representing schools and colleges throughout Yorkshire.

In the 70cm class Lucy jumped accurate double clear rounds with each of her grey ponies.

With a very fast time, Lucy was awarded first position with Comanche Blue to become the Yorkshire Champion, and was runner-up on her other ride, Maddy.

Lucy now has her sights set on becoming the NSEA Regional Points League winner in June.

Points are gained in all disaplines, including showjumping, dressage, and eventing.

Her next challenge takes place over the Easter weekend, when she will be travelling to Crick in Wales, to take part in the David Broom Showjumping Winter Championships.
