Matt Conner’s golf tips - Video drill

A great drill you can practise to help improve the quality of strike involves using an iphone, if you are daring enough, or a piece of ply board of a similar size.

The drill will help you to stop hitting the ground too far behind the ball, causing inconsistent pitch shots.

Place the phone 10cm behind the ball. Now take your normal pitching set up.

When you swing the club back away from the ball and then swing down towards the ball you need to try and miss the phone.

Making sure you miss the phone will help give the golf club the correct angle into the ball.

You will feel like you have more weight on your front foot so the club will be driving into the ball rather than the ground behind.

Improving the angle the club swings into the ball will help improve your strike.
