Mayor Hazel Lynskey and Mayoress Sheila Kettlewell were bowled over by the standard of the young gymnasts at a special display in their honour at Scarborough Gymnastics Academy.
The Mayor and Mayoress, who were attending the Barry’s Lane club to present the silver medals that the club earned at the International Team Gym Cup in Gran Canaria, were amazed at the international quality of the building, the high standard of the gymnasts of all ages, and the friendly atmosphere at the academy.
Mayor Lynskey said: “To achieve international success and to win their awards at this level is something the Borough of Scarborough should be very proud of.
“They were not only ambassadors for their club, but for their country.”
