On Sunday, 10 members of Scarborough Archers took part in the annual indoor Portsmouth archery tournament at Bridlington.

Pete Liley, Sarah Monteith, Roger Greaves, Mark Breckon, Chris Gibson, Paul Oates, Derek Simpson, Neil Simms, Phil Simms and John Naylor all shot the Portsmouth (60 arrows shot over 20 yards) round.

Mark Breckon shot exceptionally well in his first ever tournament and came fifth overall in the Gents Recurve category.

Neil Simms, Phil Simms and Derek Simpson, who were also competing in their first tournament, all shot well, with Phil Simms winning the silver medal in the Junior Gents 14 Plus category.

Sarah Monteith was aiming to defend her Ladies Recurve title of the last two years, and after shooting well, she managed to secure the gold medal and trophy for the third year in a row with a good score of 555 - a personal best.

Scarborough Archers also won the gold medal and trophy in the team event with a score of 2685.

The team consisted of Sarah Monteith, Mark Breckon, John Naylor, Neil Simms and Roger Greaves.
