Local rider Jack Naylor has enjoyed a fine 2012, bouncing back from a tough year to seal several podium finishes, setting himself up well for 2013.
The 15-year-old rider from Rillington experienced engine problems in 2011, but with help from sponsor Grip Cycles, Naylor won the British Youth Cross-Country Championships, came second at the British Youth Motocross Championships and won a superb six races at the last meet of the season at Balmouth.
Jack’s dad Simon was quick to sing the praises of his son.
He said: “Jack has had an absolutely fantastic year.
“He won the British Youth and came second at the British Motocross, and then won six races at Balmouth.
“We do have to say a big, big thank you to Grip Cycles, Eastfield, for all their support.
“Jack had a few engine issues in 2011 and Grip advised us to changes oils, which has worked wonders.
“We also have to thank Dynabike at Malton for all their ongoing support for Jack.”
2013 is set to be Jack’s final year as a youth rider before he’ll make the big step up into the senior ranks, but dad Simon is confident his son can make the transition smoothly.
He added: “Jack went and rode at Pont du Vaux in France on a 450cc in a senior event and held his own. That was an invaluable experience for him and will set him up nicely.”
