Nine-year-old Amy nets silver at Yorkshire swim

NINE-year-old Kingfishers Swimming Club ace Amy Corcoran netted a superb silver medal at the ASA Yorkshire Championships at Ponds Forge.

Amy was one of 12 Kingfishers swimmers who were competing at the Sheffield venue in the county finals.

The highlight of the weekend was a silver medal in the 50m Butterfly in a time of 37.83 by Amy.

Commenting on Amy’s success, her coach Tom Wilkinson said: “This is a reward for the hard work and dedication to training that Amy has demonstrated this year.”

Of a total of 33 swims across the five disciplines resulted in 17 personal bests being achieved.

Wilkinson and his fellow coach Juan Carlos Lino were especially pleased with the attitude and conduct of the swimmers both poolside and around the complex throughout the weekend.

Lino said: “The swimmers were a credit to Scarborough with their behaviour.”

The early morning and weekend training that all the swimmers commit to are reaping dividends at Kingfishers.
