Almost perfect weather encouraged more than 60 swimmers from 17 clubs across Yorkshire, Durham and Northumberland to perform at their best over a range of distances in the North East and Yorkshire Open Water Swimming Championships at Wykeham Lakes.
Scarborough Swimming Club members achieved outstanding success on the day.
In the Girls 12/13 years 1km event Jace Cappleman won North East and Yorkshire gold, with Emma Clapton taking North East bronze and Yorkshire silver.
Jade Hutchinson took North East bronze and Yorkshire silver in the Girls 14/15 years 1.5km race, while in the Girls 16/17 years (2km); Rebecca Cox won the North East and Yorkshire bronze medals.
Luke Kelly won North East Silver and Yorkshire gold in the Men’s Open, which was a 3km race and he also won the North East and Yorkshire gold in the Men’s Open Sprint 1km event.
In the Women’s Open (3km): Sarah Roberts won North East and Yorkshire silver with Katie Mould taking Yorkshire bronze, while in the Women’s Open Sprint (1km): Sarah Roberts won North East and Yorkshire gold with Jess Oldcorn taking the silver in both championships.
