Brilliant sunshine and heavy rain showers were experienced by crown green bowlers who entered the doubles merit competition at Robin Hood’s Bay Bowling Club.

Tomorrow Whitby BC will stage its Over-60s Singles Round Robin Merit, 9.30am start, and on Sunday there will be the finals of the Scarborough CGB Association’s Boyes Cup at Westgate BC, starting at 10am and for which four players have qualified from each of the association’s member clubs.

Competitions secretary Jackie Stapleton has reminded those taking part in the Boyes Cup final of the dress code for this event: men’s shirts are to be of single colour with no coloured piping although a club logo is acceptable and jeans are banned; women’s trousers must be black or blue.

The suggestions box will be present at the Boyes Cup final for any member to put forward ideas to improve and increase interest in the game, particularly in the local area.
