EASINGTON’S Paul Westmoreland was the star of the show as he picked up the North of England Codling title on the final day of the 89th annual Filey Fishing Festival.

Westmoreland’s catch of over 18lbs edged out home angler Richard Cappleman to collect the Dixon’s Discount Warehouse-sponsored £500 prize and the Late Sir Dennis Bayley Challenge Cup.

There was plenty of success for the local anglers throughout a top week of action though.

Filey’s Terry Holmes won the boat angler of the week honour having collected 38 points, earning him the Don Whiteley Memorial Trophy.

Another Filey fisherman Jeremy Robinson, followed this up by collecting victory in the shore angler of the week battle, as he amassed 30 points. He landed the Minnie Crawford Memorial Trophy.
