Scarborough boxer Danny Price’s next fight looks set to be a homecoming bout at the Spa’s Grand Hall after injury scuppered his next fight.
It is a case of mixed emotions for the cruiserweight, who was forced to pull out of his scheduled central area title shot against Martyn Grainger at Leeds Town Hall on March 22 due to an injury to his left knuckle.
But he is hoping to put the finishing touches to organising his next fight at the Spa, with a date early in May pencilled in.
Price said: “I’m disappointed that I’m going to have to pull out of the Grainger fight in Leeds, but my knuckle has swollen up and time is running out.
“I’ve got meetings with the guys down at the Spa this week and hopefully we can get something signed and sorted for early May for me to fight back in Scarborough.
“I haven’t fought in Scarborough since 2001 so it will be great to come back to my home town and hopefully put on a show for them.”
If the fight goes ahead, Price is hoping to get a bumper crowd behind him at the historic venue.
He added: “It would be great to get a big crowd down at the Spa for some boxing again.
“It has been a while since professional boxing has been in Scarborough and hopefully boxing fans in the town will come out in force to support on the night.”
