Entries for the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k closed early after reaching its limit of 1,500 runners more than four weeks before race day on Sunday November 3.
This is the first time the event has reached capacity in its five-year history.
The 10km route takes runners from the Spa Complex, around the Marine Drive and through the Open Air Theatre to the Sea Life Centre, before returning along the North Bay back to the Spa.
Race Director, Chris Clayton of Scarborough Athletic Club, is thrilled the event has become so popular: “It’s fantastic news that we have reached the 1,500 mark.
“The popularity of running in the local area continues to grow and we have been overwhelmed by the amazing response to the race.”
Victoria Stephenson, corporate communications manager at McCain added: “We are delighted to continue our support of the Yorkshire Coast 10k into its fifth year, and it’s great to see it’s more popular than ever.”
The 10k race is followed by the Family Fun Run at 11.30am, a shorter 2.5km course.
