A record entry of 1,880 athletes will be competing in Sunday’s seventh-running of the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k.
Kicking off at Scarborough’s Spa at 10am, the 10k course will follow Scarborough’s coastline, from the South Bay, around the Marine Drive and through the Open Air Theatre and onto the Sea Life Centre where they turn and return via the North Bay promenade to finish back at the Spa.
Runners are coming from as far and wide as Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Cheltenham, Colchester and Birmingham, with a total of 614 affiliated club runners, 69 of them from Scarborough Athletic Club.
McCain is the main sponsor of the 10k race, the very popular 2.5k Family Fun Run and, new for this year, a shorter 1.6k Fun Run.
Both are perfect for children and anyone wanting to run the shore on a smaller scale.
As a responsible, family-owned food manufacturer, McCain is committed to making food that can be enjoyed as part of a healthy, balanced diet. The company has sponsored the event since it began in 2009 as part of its commitment to encouraging healthy, active lifestyles in the town.
