Record number of Kingfishers swimmers attend Winter Yorkshire event

Kingfishers Swimming Club had a club record attendance at the Winter Yorkshire Championships held at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield.

A total of 14 Kingfishers swimmers qualified for various events with 13 of these swimmers joining other qualifying swimmers from across the entire Yorkshire region.

First time attendees this year were Sophie Boddy, Caitlin Wilson, Holly Franklin, Savannah Snowball, Connor Rutter and Leo Forsyth.

Sophie Boddy (age nine) who attends Seamer & Irton School gained a ninth place and earned herself a ‘Finalist’ cap for her swim in the 50m breaststroke.

Sophie also achieved 11th, 12th, 15th and 21st placings in all five strokes with some excellent personal best times.

Caitlin Wilson also qualified for all five strokes in the age nine group and put in some superb swims.

Congratulations go to all swimmers that attended: Louise Scupham, Paige Cusworth, Chloe Simmons, Ceri Boddy, Harriet Longley, Savannah Snowball, Connor Rutter, Brandon Lino, Leo Forsythe, Emily McDiarmid, Caitlin Wilson, Sophie Boddy and Holly Franklin.

Thanks must go to club coaches at Kingfishers along with the coaches at early morning training and also to the swimmers for their dedication to the sport and the long hours they put into their training.
