Former Eastfield footballer and Westway Amateur Boxing Club coach Craig Salt’s bid to raise £4,000 by running the London Marathon has received a huge shot in the arm.

Salt, 55, is deep in training for the gruelling 26.2-mile event on Sunday April 13, and his bid has been boosted by a donation of £1,000 from Tamby Seeneevassen at Sabrina Healthcare in Bridlington.

Salt’s father Michael passed away after a battle with cancer and he’s now trying to raise funds for children’s cancer charities.

Salt said: “I have to say a massive thank you to Tamby at Sabrina Healthcare and everyone who has pitched in so far.

“I’m up to about £2,500 and am aiming for £4,000.

“I’m training hard at the moment and I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.

“I’d appreciate any more support. People can ring me on 07971673859.”
