Sarah Gilbert, who is one of Scarborough Athletic Club’s new members, travelled to Norfolk to compete in the annual Wymondham 20-mile road race, as part of her preparation for the Halstead Marathon in May.
On what is considered to be a testing undulating course, Sarah ran with her father David Gilbert, and completed the race alongside him in three hours 38 minutes and 28 seconds.
They plan to run together again at the Halstead Marathon.
Scarborough Athletic Club was represented at one of West Yorkshire’s top class road races, the Dewsbury 10 kilometre road race.
This was held on a fast course, which started and finished in the town centre.
Pete Johnson made a most welcome return to his best form in the over-60 division, with a winning age group performance after finishing up in 58th overall of 587 finishers in 38 minutes and 39 seconds.
This time was the third fastest time this year in his age group in the United Kingdom official rankings, and the fastest by a North of England athlete.
Chris Allen ran well to get close to his 2011 best time, when finishing in 115th with a time of 39 minutes 51seconds.
