THE McCain-sponsored Scarborough 10k couldn’t have been more of a success according to race director Chris Clayton.
A total of 1,270 competitors completed the event along a hugely supportive seafront, with New Marske Harrier Mark Wiles leading the way.
Clayton said: “It was fantastic. You don’t ever think that you are going to get things sorted in time.
“It all comes together though, we get so many helpers down from Scarborough Athletic Club and by 9am on the morning everything is ready to go.
“It is all about the runners enjoying themselves.
“The first 10 are very competitive, but the people at 500, 600 or even those in the 1,000s are also very, very important.
“That is what we are interested in and that it why we do it.
“The weather was perfect to get people out to watch and cheer the runners on, but it was a little warm for October. I wouldn’t have fancied running it in the heat we had.”
