The Scarborough News are delighted to be backing the Scarborough & District Sports Awards yet again in 2013.

Last year’s awards ceremony, held at Scarborough Spa’s Ocean Room, was a huge success, and we want to ensure the event is even better.

Matt Hewison, sports development officer for the Sports Council said: “The 2012 Sports Awards proved to be a resounding success on all levels.

“The standard and volume of nominations was fantastic, the number of people who attended the event was one of the most we have ever had and also the standard of the winners was of the highest order.

“The Sports Awards are a great way to recognise all the local sporting talent we have across the Borough and because of the range of categories we have; everyone has the opportunity to be recognised and I would certainly encourage everyone involved in local sport to make a nomination.”

If you want to nominate anyone for any of the various categories below, there are many ways to do so.

You can email Matt at sportsdevelopment@scarborough.gov.uk or simply pop into our offices at 17-23 Aberdeen Walk and we will provide you with the nomination form.

Forms need to be sent to Sports Development Officer, Scarborough Sports Centre, Filey Road, Scarborough, YO11 2TP, no later than September 20.
