Scarborough Indoor Bowling Club enjoyed a fine victory over Harrogate in the Egham Trophy competition played home and away, on Sunday.
Success on the two home rinks and one away rink gave Scarborough a 117-56 return.
At home Julie Tappin, Pam Miller, Billy Truefitt and skip Steve Taylor powered to a 43-5 victory, while John Yeadon, Pauline Veitch, Joan Hodges and skip Albert Mouser won 26-14.
At Harrogate Amy Ker, Marjorie Hellewell, John Punter and skip Sean Wells won 30-15, while Steve Price’s rink lost 22-18.
Saturday also brought success for the Scarborough men’s team in the Denny Cup - with two wins and a draw giving a 92-77 advantage.
Performing admirably away at Hornsea, Jack Bird, Adie Bird, Geoff Bint and skip Rob Dickens won 33-17 and R Bell, Stuart Stamford, John Buckle and Albert Mouser scored eight on the last three ends to grab an 18-18 draw.
At Scarborough John Yeadon, Joseph Mann, Billy Truefitt and skip Steve Taylor won 29-19, but Steve Price’s rink went down 23-12.
Scarborough got another victory when tackling Thornaby in division one of the Over-55s League, on Saturday, winning on three of the four rinks for a 14-4 points success with an 89-77 aggregate advantage.
At home Albert Mouser’s rink won 30-12 and John Buckle’s 23-16, while John Punter’s team won 29-17 at Thornaby - enough to ensure success despite the 32-7 defeat on Chris Turnbull’s rink.
Scarborough ladies suffered a disappointing defeat by York A in the ladies’ Mason Trophy on Thursday, winning at home but losing away over 2 rinks in all.
The indoor bowling club’s triples-by-lot competition will take place on Sunday November 18, with the draw at 11.15am for a 12noon start. Entry is £2.50 per person and entry forms are now available at the reception counter.
The closing date for entries is Friday November 16.
Entry forms for the Spring Leagues are also available at reception. Entry is £2 per person per league, and the closing date for entries is Sunday December 9.
