Westway ABC’s Lewis Spaven continues his quest for schoolboy ABA glory this weekend when he travels to Wakefield to face the Midlands champion.
Spaven, 13, was crowned the Yorkshire 50kg and under champion last weekend at Sheffield when he beat Ahmed Camran of Sheffield City ABC.
Despite the vocal support backing Camran, Spaven was too strong and too skillful for his man, as he landed a number of early stinging southpaw back-hands.
Camran resorted to holding after this, but Spaven countered and one of his fierce long shots bloodied his opponent’s nose.
Camran was given a public warning in the second for lowering his head as the fighters came together and Spaven soon went to work on his opponent’s head to win the second.
Spaven then wrapped up a fine performance with more dominant boxing in the third to take the points win.
