Toddy Oldfield was beaten 4-1 by the impressive Yorkshire star Jason Elvin in the night’s opening match but Simmy Cass recorded his first super league victory with a dominant 4-0 victory over Baz Holland to level the scores.

After an impressive performance in the BDO British Open where he reached the last 16 Jim Gordon continued his form with a man-of-the-match 4-1 victory over another county star Peter Jacques.

Gordon registered three 180s and a fine 96.68 average. The match was sealed in style as Gordon hit a sublime 13-darter.

Elvidge was always in control as he opened with a 14-darter that included a 180 and sealed the match with a magnificent 146 (Treble 20,treble 18, double 16) out-shot for a 15-darter.

Doubles were missed by both players but Manning pinched the win with a tidy 14-darter in the decding leg.
