Scarborough Ladies have made a flying start to their new season in the Yorkshire League Humberside North Division, winning all three of their matches with impressive results.

They beat Bridlington 2nds 9-2, Burton Pidsea 8-3 and followed up those wins on Saturday with a 5-1 defeat of Kingston-upon-Hull 4ths.

Last season the ladies suffered relegation due to a lack of players, but things are looking up with a mixture of local girls and students from the University of Hull Scarborough Campus.

Captain Sam Lancaster said: “It’s been a really encouraging start to the season. The girls are playing well together and are keen to push the club forward and get back to the level we should be playing at.”

On Saturday the girls travel to Hornsea. Anyone interested in playing is welcome at training on Wednesday nights 7.30-9pm at Scarborough College’s astroturf.

Players: Sam Lancaster, Ashlea Elcoate, Kirsty Tait, Sarah Coates, Charlotte Chambers, Kelly Williams, Mags Purnell, Jenny Panton, Laura Bird, Becca Noble, Becky Tait, Becky Picken, Bridgitte Picken, Eleanor Richards, Becky Coates, Kelly Laird, Kasey Hill, Mikki Swann, Tiff Mancini and Helen Holdsworth.
