THE indoor bowls centre is holding a Race Night Spectacular in the Alexandra Room on Saturday February 26.
All the races have been sponsored, but horse sponsors are required at £3 per horse, available from the reception desk. Owners of winning horses. receive prizes.
Free tickets for the event are available from reception.
The centre company’s annual meeting will be held on Sunday February 27 at 6.30 pm. The meeting is open to full members only and at least 70 need to attend to achieve a quorum.
Under-18s coach Mike Preston and members of the junior section are again collecting Tesco vouchers as a source of extra equipment and members are asked to collect vouchers and put them in the collection box on the reception desk.
SIBC members will be seeing red when they support the British Heart Foundation Wear Red Day fund-raising initiative and on Friday February 25. All league and social bowlers at the centre have been invited to wear red items of clothing, with a minimum donation of £1 before start of play.
Bowls centre staff have already been trained in the use of a life saving defibrillator machine, and much of the money raised will go towards placing more than 100 such machines along the Yorkshire coast area, including the bowls centre.
Centre manager Colin Rennard has offered to donate £50 if 10 members of the club match his donation - raising £550 before the actual fund-raising event begins.
