Professional boxing returned to Scarborough for the first time since 2006 with a bang as Danny Price landed a KO win against Michal Bilak.
Price had to survive a huge scare after he hit the deck at the end of the first round, but a raucous crowd at the Spa’s Grand Hall roared Price to his ninth consecutive win.
The Scarborough man said afterwards: “It was one of the best nights of my life, it was brilliant.
“I can’t thank the people who came down enough.
“The support was unbelievable and hopefully people enjoyed themselves.”
Price was cruising the fight until Bilak floored him, but he is adamant the outcome of the fight was never in doubt.
Price said: “I was in control and was hurting him, and I put him down twice and then I let him off the hook and he caught me with a silly shot.
“Usually you get blurry eyes then it goes, but it took a bit longer for the senses to come back this time, but I was ok.
“It was a silly shot to get caught with but I will learn from that.”
Price won’t be in a hurry to promote a fight again after admitting that a lot of his time was taken up with selling tickets rather than sparring and training.
He added: “I need to concentrate on my boxing now and put promoting and organising behind me.”
