Snainton Professional John Wells won the second of six Yorkshire PGA events, The Forest Park Trophy, which form the 2013 Order of Merit.

Wells played some of his best golf of the summer to produce a five under par 66, with six birdies and one three putt bogey, in perfect conditions to win by two shots from former European Tour Pro Danny Dennison.

It’s the second year the event has being held at the 6,733yd demanding layout at Forest Park Golf Club near York and Wells’s 66 is a New Course record.

“It’s being a few years since I have won a YPGA order of merit event, so it’s especially pleasing to do it with a new course record,” said a delighted Wells.

Meanwhile, Alex Belt began his attempt to win back to back wins on the PGA Europro Tour at the Grant Property Investment Championship at Moray Golf Club in Lossiemouth, Scotland on Tuesday.
