Andrew Wiles successfully defended his McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k title on Sunday, just beating Ethiopian Paralympian Wondiye Fikre Indelbu.
Over 1,200 participants flocked to The Spa to take part in the annual event, with Scarborough Athletic Club’s Jack Robertson finishing third for the second year running.
The Mayor and Mayoress Andrew and Sue Backhouse started the race before completing the gruelling course themselves.
Matt Hewison from the Scarborough & District Sports Council was delighted with how the event went.
He said: “The Yorkshire Coast 10k is a fantastic event and a real highlight of the town’s sporting calendar.
“The event has an impact on many different levels; it gives people of all abilities the opportunity to participate in a high profile athletics event.
“Chris Clayton and the members of Scarborough Athletic Club deserve a great deal of praise for the delivery of the event that continues to thrive.”
