SCARBOROUGH Water-Ski Club held their first ‘Come and try it’ session at their base at the Mere last weekend, with a dozen children donning their wet-suits to take to the water.
The club are keen to start attracting more younger members and decided to host a taster session to try and entice more people into the sport.
Event organiser and member of the club, Danny Jordan was delighted with the turn-out for the event.
He said: “It was a great day. We’ve always been a very family orientated club and we wanted to try and attract more youngsters and their parents in to try the sport for the first time.
“If we can get more younger people trying the sport then their parents come along too and they end up trying it out as well.
“We had about a dozen down for the day. The youngest was three-years-old and the oldest was nine.
“We had a good day on the water and then had a bbq back at the club to finish things off.”
And following the success of the event, the club are keen to run a similar session again.
Jordan added: “We’ll definitely look to run a taster day again. It was good to get some new people trying the sport.”
