The heavy rain this weekend meant that only five games were completed in the Readers Scarborough Beckett Cricket League on Saturday, while the entire Derwent Valley League programme was washed out.

In the only premier division game to survive, Forge Valley’s winning start to the season came to a halt at Heslerton in a low-scoring contest, the hosts triumphing by 16 runs.

Brompton saw off visitors Wold Newton in division A by four wickets, while Cayton 2nds hammered hosts Staxton 2nds by nine wickets in division B.
