Craig Farrell believes that Danny McGuire’s visit to Scarborough for his testimonial dinner will be a great boost for both codes of rugby in the town.
Farrell, who is enjoying his rugby after making a recent return to Scarborough RUFC, said: “Danny McGuire coming to the town
will be great for everyone here and especially the players as we will be running some coaching sessions on the Saturday.
“It will be nice to see some of the lads from Leeds and have a little catch up with some of them too.
“But it will be a great opportunity for youngsters from Scarborough to learn general rugby skills that could be used in both league and union.”
Farrell played a pivotal role in the Scarborough Pirates’ highly successful summer season but has been resting for the past few months so he can
‘recharge his batteries’.
The former Batley player added: “I wasn’t sure if i was going to play for the Pirates this summer but I have now decided I’m going to.
“The summer is a great time to play. The weather is better and the Pirates are putting together a strong squad.”
McGuire’s testimonial dinner is at The Crown Spa on Friday evening, before a one-off coaching session for youngsters at Scarborough RUFC’s Silver Royd base from 9.30am on the Saturday morning.
