Leeds Rhinos star Danny McGuire is hoping links can be forged between the club and fans in Scarborough after a his testimonial weekend.
McGuire held his testimonial dinner at the Crown Spa on Friday night before meeting some young Rhinos fans at Scatborough RUFC’s Silver Royd ground the following morning.
Now the stand-off his hoping the club can enhance their links in the area, starting with a proposed Rhinos fan club in the town.
McGuire said: “Friday was a great night and everything went really well.
“A lot of the lads came through for the evening and had a great time.
“We ventured into the town afterwards so we all saw the sights of Scarborough.
“The lads are all already planning our next trip back through.
“I have to thank Dave Marsden for helping to put the dinner on and the Crown Spa.”
McGuire’s planned coaching session at Silver Royd on the Saturday was beaten by the downpour of snow overnight, forcing the players indoors for a question and answer session.
“It was great to see all the kids up there in their Rhinos jerseys on Saturday morning,” McGuire added.
“It’s great to see the support of the club stretches out of Leeds and although we were disappointed that we couldn’t get out on the pitches because of the snow, it was great to meet some of the young fans.”
“I’ve already spoken to Dave Marsden about coming back again soon to do the coaching session so nobody misses out, and I know there are plans for a supporters branch in Scarborough now.”
