Scarborough Pirates ARLFC suffered mixed fortunes this weekend, their first team winning 28-12 at Elland and the A team suffering a 38-6 reverse in their opening home game of the season, against York Lokomotive.

Skipper Dave Douthwaite was on top form for the Pirates in their Yorkshire Men’s League Group One match West Yorkshire, scoring two tries and claiming the man of the match award.

James Millward also had a fine day, scoring four of his five kicks and helping himself to a try with Regan Stirk and Tom Jenkinson the other try-scorers.

The Pirates have now won all four of their games this season and sit on top of the table ahead of rivals Hunslet Club Parkside Academy on points difference.

Adam Lee’s side will be back on home turf this weekend against Lock Lane A, 2.30pm kick-off. This will be a keenly-contested game as Lock Lane have won both their league games by large margins.

The A team went 6-0 ahead early on in their Group Two fixture at Eastway thanks to a superb solo effort but the visitors proved too strong and fought back to claim a 38-6 win.

Stanley Rangers will entertain the Pirates’ second string on Saturday afternoon.
