Scarborough Pirates advanced in the Council Cup after Jamie Cornish’s last-minute try handed them a 26-24 win at Lambwath Lions.

The depleted Pirates gained their revenge on the Lions, who beat them 28-0 just a few weeks ago, as Liam Braithwaite, Keith Paddock, Carl Stephenson and Jack Johnson joined Cornish on the scoresheet.

The win was marred slightly after Ben Rowe, who only returned to playing rugby league recently, suffered a broken leg with only four minutes left on the clock.
