Scarbororough Pirates bounced back from their cup final defeat last week to produce a superb display and beat Lambeth Lions 26-6.

Coach Adam Lee described his side’s effort as one of their best of the season as an early try from captain Dave Douthwaite that was converted by Josh McNeil gave the home side a 6-0 lead.

Tom Jenkinson then went over for 10-0 before a superb interception from Sam Hakings allowed Alex Collins to go over under the posts for a 14-0 half-time lead.

Lambeth drew first blood in the second half to make it 14-6 but Lee barged his way over and McNeil’s conversion made it 20-6 to the Pirates. Nathan Hakings completed the scoring with a neat try that Alex Paddock converted to round things off at 26-6.

A delighted Lee said: “It was a real team performance from the lads after last week’s disappointment. It’s great to see the commitment of the guys.”

The Pirates tackle Hull Dockers this Saturday.
