SLIDESHOW: Pirates crash out of Council Cup

Scarborough Pirates’ Council Cup run came to a crashing halt with a 32-18 loss at Hull Isberg on Saturday, despite the visitors steaming into a 12-0 lead.

Pacy wing Jamie Cornish and Josh McNeil scored a try apiece to put the visitors 12-0 ahead in the first half.

Cornish claimed a second try in the second period, with McNeil converting all three, but the home side fought back to book their place in the next round.

Pirates player-coach Adam Lee said: “We had a great first half but we were just beaten by their fitness in the second half.

“Our man of match was hooker Nicky Brining, he was outstanding.”

The Pirates are back in league action this week as they tackle Beverley at Eastway.

The Pirates’ summer sides are hosting their annual general meeting tonight at Eastway, 7.30pm, and are also back in training from next Thursday March 20.

All players new and old are welcome to the AGM tonight and should meet in the car park at the Magnet store on Seamer Road for training next Thursday at 6.30pm.
