It is massively important that we start well against our derby rivals Bridlington on Saturday or we could find ourselves out of the game.

We didn’t turn up for the first half at Heath on Saturday and we were effectively out of the game after that.

We improved in the second half but it was too late to get back into the match.

Saturday is a massive game for us. We go into every game wanting to win, obviously, but the Bridlington game is such a big game that we need to right at our best from the start.

In the game at their place earlier this season we started poorly and the capitalised.

For whatever reason, Brid have had the upper hand on Scarborough in recent years and I hear they’ve never lost against us here at Silver Royd.

This is only my second derby against them at the club so I am relatively new to the fixture, but we will be doing all we can to win the game and end that record this coming weekend.

In every single game of rugby you look to impose yourself in the forward pack in order to get the backs more room in which to play, and we’ll be looking to do just that Saturday afternoon.

We’re expecting Brid to come racing out of the blocks come Saturday and we’ll need to match them both with physicality and rugby ability and we’re capable of doing just that.

There is a lot of competition for places at the club at the moment and that can only be a good thing for us going forward.

Craig Farrell starting Saturday is a big boost for us. He makes things tick at centre and controls the game.

We’re hoping for a bit turn-out for the game.

No doubt we’ll get a bigger crowd then for other Yorkshire One games, with Brid bringing a lot of fans and more home support coming. I hope to see you at Silver Royd Saturday.
