Competition for places at Scarborough RUFC will be fierce over the next few weeks, according to head coach Lee Douglas.

Scarborough booked their place in the final of the Yorkshire Shield last weekend when they beat Selby 36-33.

This has sparked a frenzy for places in the Scarborough side going into the big final against Ilkley, which is set to take place in May.

This will start with tomorrow’s home game against Pontefract.

Douglas: “We have been told that we are playing Ilkley in the final of the Yorkshire Shield at some point in May. Between then and now the places go up for grabs.

“We picked up a few injuries on Saturday, these players will know that once the other lads come into the first team their place is in jeopardy.

“There is a lot of strength in depth at the club, we have the ability to call on a number of second team players who can come in and do a job.

“Between then and now there will be a lot of players trying to prove a point.

“Everyone will want to be a part of it when we go out there and play Ilkley.
