Scarborough RUFC director of rugby Mike Holder is hoping for a boost in the numbers of youngsters turning out at the club following England’s historic series win in Australia.

The momentus 3-0 whitewash win was the first in Australia in English rugby history, and Holder is hoping that will inspire more to take up the sport.

“The way our youth set-up has developed in recent years is astrononimical, and hopefully England doing so well in Australia will see some more kids give it a go,” said Holder.

“It’s then about us making sure that we look after them and develop their skills.”

It’s not just youngsters that Holder is hoping to see up at Scarborough RUFC come pre-season.

He added: “We’d welcome people of all ages to come and give rugby union a try at Scarborough RUFC.”
