Scarborough RUFC’s director of rugby, Mike Holder, is hoping for a successful campaign for the club this season.
Scarborough embark upon their first season under the stewardship of new coach Jason Lowde and new skipper Phil Watson, and Holder insists there is a fresh impetus about the club.
Holder said: “We’re always confident going into new seasons, and we’re still developing as a club.
“It’s key that we get a good start this year. In the past we’ve looked like a championship side after Christmas and not so good at the start of the season.
“But the lads have trained well this year. There seems to be a whole new atmosphere at the club.
“There are a lot of youngsters and we’ve got a nice group together now too.
“But we were already on the right track beforehand, everyone was pulling in the right direction.
“Everytime a club gets a new coach though, there seems to be a fresh start and people want to impress.”
Scarborough play their final pre-season friendly of the season at Middlesbrough on Saturday.
Coach Lowde will be taking a large squad up the A171 as he bids to piece together his squad for the first game of the Yorkshire One season on Saturday September 1 against Driffield.
